Anna and Todd’s wedding session took place some time after their wedding, since they went straight off on their honeymoon. Relaxed and rested, they came back to Warsaw, to Anna’s family home. To avoid travelling any further, we decided to hold the session in Powsin, just outside Warsaw. It was a fairly warm day, so we headed towards the nearby buildings and a row of trees in the local forest.
Dancing in the forest
A good way to loosen up during a session is to repeat the first dance. The couple is usually so caught up in each other and the steps that they end up enjoying themselves and stop paying attention to the camera, which gives me the chance to catch some great shots!
I also love getting a bit closer and showing the small details in gestures that reveal real affection.
The willow lane in Powsin
A nice spot in Powsin lies a bit further on, past the fields, and you can reach it either along the forest edge or by a country lane from the buildings. There’s a willow lane there, and next to it a clearing with a lovely tree and a view over a cornfield.
Wedding session with flares on the beach in Ciszyca
An interesting spot for a session by the Wisła river can be found a few kilometres further on, just past Konstancin-Jeziorna near Warsaw. It’s the beach in Ciszyca, an impressively large stretch of sand, a great place to relax and, as you can see, for a photo session too.
The session with flares turned out to be a bit risky, since I was worried about the nearby helicopter airfield running sightseeing flights over Warsaw and the Wisła. Fortunately, the smoke from the flares clears quickly, and the helicopter’s rotors have no trouble blowing it away fast.
You probably can’t tell from the photos or the couple’s faces, but we did have a small mishap with the flares: a spark landed on the hem of Anna’s dress and burned a small hole in it. It didn’t spoil our mood, though, right to the end.
A separate-day session gives you what the wedding day itself can’t: time.
