Magda and Łukasz held their wedding in Warsaw’s New Town, and their preparations took place almost in the same spot, at the family home right by the Old Town on Miodowa Street. That made for a very relaxed start, since we never had to rush anywhere. We could even have taken a longer walk that day, if the sunny weather hadn’t been quite so keen to warm us up. The reception was held in Nieporęt, at the Portovino restaurant by the Zegrze Reservoir, where the sun mixed perfectly with a gentle breeze off the water.
Getting Ready for the Wedding
Getting ready began at the family home in an old tenement building. There wasn’t much space, but everyone still managed to get ready without any trouble. The bride went first, of course, since her hair and makeup needed the most time. The groom just threw on his shirt and suit and was practically ready to head off with Magda to the church in the New Town.
The Wedding in Warsaw’s New Town
Magda and Łukasz travelled to the wedding in a sweet little Mini Cooper with a whole bunch of balloons, which somehow managed to hold together for the short drive to the church on the New Town square. The ceremony took place in a beautiful white church, with the singing of the nuns from the neighbouring convent audible in the background.
After the ceremony, the couple was greeted with soap bubbles, along with plenty of well-wishes and gifts, which were meant for a children’s home.
The Reception at Portovino, Nieporęt
For the reception, we headed to Nieporęt, just outside Warsaw, on the shore of the beautiful Zegrze Reservoir. That’s where the formal dinner and dancing took place, but that wasn’t all. The couple also had a little surprise waiting for them: a motorboat ride at sunset.
